Users have praised CorningWare SimplyLite typically giving it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. Here's a few comments:
"Not only is the new corning ware apealing to the eye it is versatile. It blends in to whatever dish pattern or table cloth you are using. I bought a set for my Mom who is 85 yrs old. The new corning ware is much lighter in weight and makes it easier for her to handle and carry the dish. At first glance it does not look like this product will be as sturdy as the older version but after dropping it (accidently) and having it ding into other pots and pans I was happy to see it is stronger than it looks. So far nothing has left a staining mark ; I also like the extending edges that blend well with the design and make it easier to keep a handle on a filled dish. I gave this 5 stars because the product is appealing visually; it is sturdy; handles well and washes beautifully ; looks great in the fridge and the price is very reasonable."
"Functional, good-looking., LIGHT, and elegant enough to serve company. Stacks well and the see-through plastic lid is a bonus. It's nice to see what's in a container when its in the fridge."
"When I saw first saw the "SimplyLite" CorningWare line in a department store, I picked up a piece to look at it. After feeling the lightness of the dish, I decided CorningWare had lost it's good reputation with me; this stuff must be plastic! Why would anyone want to buy this? But, a few weeks later, needing a baking dish with a good tight lid on it for refrigerating foods and leftovers that tend to smell up the refrigerator, I decided to give it a try. WOW! Have I been pleasantly surprised and pleased with everything about this dish. Excellent size and shape, very versatile, and cleans up effortlessly. As for the difficulty of using the tightly fitting lid that some users mentioned, some of us want it tight for the very reason that we do not want the tuna casserole or turkey and dressing smells mingling with other items in the refrigerator. It's tight but not impossible or even all that difficult to remove if you place your dish on the counter to work with it. The dish looks nice on the table, and it's so light that it's easy to handle when full. Great invention, CorningWare. I highly recommend the new SimplyLite line of Corningware; I'm now a believer."

World Kitchen bought the brand in the late 1990's, promptly "redesigned" the product, and shipped manufacturing overseas. WK is trading on the reputation of CorningWare while offering a product that bears no resemblance to the original in versatility or durability."

The Amazon ratings for this bakeware are spotty at best, with one star and five star ratings alike for the separates. A set sold in 8 pieces receives a 3 1/2 star rating overall. One reviewer who rates it poorly is aware of the history,
"For those who are not familiar with the original U.S.-made glass/ceramic CorningWare, this cheaply made substitute may seem like a good deal. For those of us who still have pieces of the original CorningWare, this product is a horrible substitute.
Almost half the reviewers disagree, however, and give the line 5 star ratings.
"I am thrilled with the versatility and aesthetics of the French White CorningWare. I have baked several casseroles and desserts in these with perfect results. I like that I can take the dish from the oven to the table and they look very nice with my other white dishes and serving sets.
"I like the timeless look of all the white that won't look dated in a few short years. After a meal it is extremely handy just to pop on a lid and place them in the fridge. They also wash up very nicely. I usually hand wash them due to their size, but from time to time I have put the pieces in the dishwasher and they come out fine. I always make sure to put the plastic lids on the top rack so they don't melt and they have not warped at all."
Of the separates, the set of four ramekins rates five out of five stars. All but one reviewer gives it five stars. For this set most were happy with everything except that they don't stack,
"These little ramekins are very useful. They great for use as little fruit cups, desserts, or just for snack dishes. They're also perfect for those parties as dip holders. The only drawback to me is they are not stackable which would make them more than ideal but it's a small drawback!"

Four or five minutes prior to transporting the food, heat the hot/cold pack in your microwave, then place it and the food in one of the Corningware Portables. Try to put your food in the carrier at the appropriate temperature, ideally waiting no more than a minute or two before getting the dish ready, placing it inside the carrying case, and zipping it up at the sides to keep it warm.
To keep food cold, freeze the hot/cold pack overnight or more than eight hours in your freezer. Prepare and then refrigerate or freeze your foods in CorningWare stoneware until chilled to 40 degrees Fahrenheit or colder.
Place the hot/cold pack in the bottom pocket of the carrying case and put the plastic lid on the CorningWare stoneware ovenware dish. Place the dish in the carrier and zip it up at the sides to keep the case cool. Do not put the carrier in a hot location like your trunk in the summertime for best cooling results.
The plastic lids are not airtight, carrying case should be held as level as possible, and one should not put serving utensils inside the carriers. This product has a limited one year warranty. Any non-stoneware part or accessory of the carriers with a manufacturing defect will be replaced free of charge within a year of purchase.
