CorningWare bakeware was first introduced in 1958 and was made of a glass-ceramic material. In the 1990's World Kitchen purchased the brand and has since switched to ceramic stoneware production. It's enabled the company to be more creative with their colors and styles.
CorningWare Ryku items can be hand washed with a nonabrasive soap, or placed in your dishwasher. Do not use on your stovetop, under a broiler or griller, or in any other direct heating source such as an open flame. Be sure not to soak the stoneware for a long time before heating or freezing as it can cause cracking. Do not add a liquid to the stoneware when it is hot or place the hot stoneware on a wet surface. When handled properly CorningWare Ryku is versatile, arresting in appearance, and able to withstand temperatures from oven to freezer.

Amazon's reviewers are few in number but they rate this stoneware bakeware very highly. The sets and separates overall receive mostly five stars, with one four star exception. The 2 quart square casserole received all five star reviews, one says, "I purchased several items in this line as gifts and I found them to be sturdy, substantial looking casseroles. I love the color -- black with red (the red is a darker color leaning toward brick). Very striking."
The three star reviewer of the baking dish thought people should know it cannot be used for lasagna, "This is a beautiful casserole dish; however, I wanted one for lasagna. The description fails to list that it has sloping sides. Sloping sides are not functional for removing lasagna intact. I kept it because it is so beautiful and my other CorningWare are great after 25 years (hope this lasts as well since corning was recently sold to another company). I will continue to look for a great looking lasagna dish. Only 3 stars for lacking a complete description."
