Staub cookware is an innovative leader in French cast iron cookware and stoneware. Used by many professional chefs, Staub cookware is known as cookware that can actually make food taste better. With several technical achievements, Staub stands out as an innovator of quality enameled cast iron cookware.
Staub has several standout features. Their enamel is extremely durable. Most Staub cookware has a textured black matte enamel on the inside. The black matte enamel becomes more nonstick with time, is highly durable, and is great for browning and braising. Staub cookware lids have small spikes pointing down back into the cookware which allows condensation and juices to drip back onto the food, and not just roll down the side of the cookware. Cookware with the black matte exterior are coated on the bottom with a ceramic which makes it safer for ceramic glass top stoves. Lid knobs are solid brass or stainless steel.
Staub ceramic cookware is relatively new. While it is made in China and does not get the same positive reviews as the cast iron cookware, it is showing promise for the future.
Staub cookware is dishwasher safe, but hand washing is highly recommended.
